Silver SPARKLE Tabletop for NEW YEAR'S

Just like trying to get into a hot new club or venturing out for a huge parade, going out on New Year's Eve sounds more fun than it actually is. If you've ever been out on the 31st, you know exactly why it's called "Amateur Night". Bars are packed, restaurants are all full, trains are like sardine cans, and forget about trying to get a cab!

Still, we party-lovers can't resist commemorating the flip of the calendar. How about having a lovely dinner at home, instead? Dress your table in silver and sparkle and ring in the new year without having to shimmy your way through a crowd. This tabletop features the same Mikasa Italian Countryside pattern from my Rough Luxe Thanksgiving and Whimsical Christmas tables. Everything else is from Tablescapes here in Chicago, and is available for rent. Happy New Year!

Dress your best for New Year's Eve...no matter where the party!

Today I have a fabulous and fashionable guest post from Anne of El-No Chicago. Anne braves the windy city elements in search of the city's sartorial dos and don'ts, and offers great style tips as well.  She also writes for the TV/humor site YouKnowYouLoveFashion.com  You can follow her on Twitter @ElNoChicago.

It’s that time again!

The most important fashion day of the year- New Year’s Eve. A fab ensemble needs to kick start your year. Yikes! That’s a lot of pressure. How do you pick an outfit to see you into 2011?

Location. Location. Location.

A Black Tie Party

When ushering in the New Year at a formal affair, I like to wear a killer dress. This is your chance to sparkle and shine with something over the top. Pick up a sequined cocktail dress or even a long gown.

Don’t want to invest in something that you will only wear once? Check out Rent The Runway for some amazing gowns that will be delivered to your door just in time for the big event.

Remember to pair your special ensemble with sparkling jewels (costume or real)!

Cocktails Out On The Town

This can be tricky (especially in snowy Chicago). How can you mesh glamour with wintertime practicality? This is when the bootie or high-heeled boot can come in handy.

Pair your cute and practical high-heeled booties with a slim ankle length black pant. Top this look with a dynamite sequined top. You could switch the pants for a pair of opaque tights and add on a gorgeous cocktail dress. Love!

Cocktails At Home With Your Nearest And Dearest

Take the same great options from above and sass up the look with some sexy shoes. Since you will be entertaining at home, you won’t be traipsing out in the snow… suckas. Not leaving the house is totally worth the cost of all that champagne.

Family Party With All The Kiddies

Just because the family is involved, that is no reason to be a slouch.

Dress up your jeans or slacks with a sparkling sweater and some great red lipstick. One of my favorite looks is to pair a statement skirt with a simple tank/ jacket or solid color sweater. Both of these possibilities allow you to be festive but still able to carry little munchkins up to bed.

Rockin’ Resort

There is nothing like welcoming in the New Year on a beach with a tropical drink in hand. Sparkle is still your friend but remember to look for crisp breezy options (no long sleeves, heavy fabrics, or dark colors).

White and tropical brights are perfect for these ocean side fetes. Pair your dress with a metallic or nude heeled sandal and away you go.

I’ve created a Polyvore Mini Editor with my preferred pieces for every location. Scroll through my picks and drop and drag your favsies onto the canvas. Enjoy!
